Fuerteventura, the Hawaii of Europe!

During the late eighties, Fuerteventura began to assert itself as a surfing “Mecca” by visitors to the island. As the island became more popular with an increase in cheap deals and all inclusive holidays Fuerteventura, more and more people discovered the great waves and warm seas made it the perfect place to surf! Fuerteventura has easily adapted to its reputation as a surfer’s paradise, with a year round hot climate and laid back atmosphere!
Although you can find great waves all year round, there’s two main surfing seasons in Fuerteventura, where you find the biggest swell size in autumn and winter. Summer waves aren’t quite as predictable as autumn/winter but they still won’t disappoint!
As the best waves can be found along the northern coastline, Corralejo holidays are a great choice if you want a base where you can catch the morning surf! Fearless surfers flock to the waves along the north track around Corralejo, where the waves are fierce! If you’re a total beginner, there’s plenty of surf schools around Fuerteventura offering everything from board hire to one on one lessons! Lessons are a great way to pick up the basics in a safe environment! Many travel companies even arrange “surf holidays” if you really want to get involved! If you want to brave it alone, the surf conditions around El Cotillo are perfect for beginners!
